Duke Of Sussex - Carta

Our first time visiting this pub after many months of threatening to go and we weren't disappointed, a great selection of drinks to choose from and the home cook food was simply brilliant. Will be back again soon!

I play in a band and was looking for a local venue to hold a charity night and Daryl was only too happy to help and accommodate us in any way he could. The place was packed through and everyone had a fantastic night. Have been to this pub plenty of times both eating and socialising and always had a great time. Can't recommend any higher

Had the steak pie, which is not a pie but a dish of meat with a crust on top. Says seasonal veg, all I got was tinned peas plus my 11 chips. Opted for a desert chef's crumble, think this was a frozen one heated up in a microwave and wasn't crumbly at all but a soggy lump, the table nxt to us remained uncleaned with food on the floor not a good experience for us i have to say, the food was hot and to be fair the chips were good. The potato meat pie , the top was puffed pastry when the menu I’m sure said short crust , the filling was the most disgusting undercooked gristly flavorless meat I have ever tased served in a thin tasteless gravy, with overcooked peas, to be fair the chips were excellent. Gin and tonic served without ice and 2pts and a vodka coke returned twice due to flat coke ,having returned it once flat why do the same again. Too say the meal was a complete disappointment would be a understatement

I honestly can not speak highly enough never will I go to another chain pub again! This place offers real homely cooked food and let me say it is fantastic, (none of that microwave chicken) a 9.99 meal had plenty of Scampi large pice of steak and a butterfly chicken with home made chunky chips, the mixed grill is a hefty meal also lots of food guaranteed not to go hungry and the staff are lovely! Friendly and welcoming atmosphere! I will say you won't be disappointed I certainly wasn't..

We were disappointed with some aspects. It should have been amazing Christmas Day at a higher price. The fire wasn't switched on artificial open fire and the room was cold. The soup was ok but 2 out of 3 people didn't enjoy the pheasant pate starter. The halibut itself was nice but the veg including an unusual cabbage mixture were too watery, stuffing with beef ! Was rock hard. Christmas pud ok. Just no atmosphere or special attention we had all anticipated. Oh and the toilet door didn't lock properly and toilets need refurb. Ver carta

We recently had a fantastic meal at this restaurant. The bartender was welcoming and friendly, despite being very busy. The menu offers a variety of options at reasonable prices, with generous portion sizes. We enjoyed the sharer platter, which was beautifully cooked, as well as the mixed grills which were some of the best we've had in a long time, on offer for just £9.99. The quality of the meats was excellent, perfectly cooked, succulent, and flavorful, with plenty of extras included. Overall, an amazing value and a delightful dinner - we can't wait to go back again.

Decided to stop here as not been since new menu was made. After a 40 minute wait our food arrived! Who calls seasonal veg 'tinned peas and carrots? Mashed potatoes looked like they were thrown on, table not cleaned from previous people, not asked how meal was, only thing we were told was one of the chefs had rung in not well! THEN PUT A SIGN ON BAR OR INFORM CUSTOMERS OF THE DELAY IN RECEIVING THEIR FOOD BEFORE THEY ORDER! Also note to chef, look up what seasonal veg are in September, I think you will be surprised that tinned peas and carrots are not on the list! Shame as the pie was quite nice, I had the lamb and mint, but the crust was just like a piece of cardboard! I won 't be returning.

This being our local pub for many years, always been lovely, we visited for my daughter’s 18 to finish our night off. Some had food made by the lovely Sheila who’s food is beautiful. Nev brought a few drinks for my daughter as did a few locals. Fab night had by all. Yesterday Saturday 21st December, my 18 year old visited to have food with her friend as she loves the food, to be asked for Id before even ordering, she had her driving licence) she said they only came for food but because her friend was only 17 they was asked to leave as they needed a responsible adult!
