"This was our Thanksgiving dinner and it was just lovely. We got a wonderful amuse bouche (trout mousse) to start with and then a very nice spin on the typical German staple appetizer (kleiner gemischter Salat/small mixed salad). It had some wonderful curried carrot salad, great lamb's lettuce and different dressings and flavors for each of the salads. My main course was a gnocchi dish and the gnocchi were excellent. Just the right sort of light buttery texture. My husband had the schnitzel and my Dad really enjoyed his duck. My Mom ordered schnitzel hunter style and she could not finish, the portions were simply to large. While the schnitzel dishes are very typical (you may even think boring) for German restaurants, they really tried to elevate them with excellent seasoning and ensuring that the sides would be a bit more interesting. I really like the versatility of the menu and price wise this restaurant offers a nice spread from less expensive fare (such as my gnocchi) to pricier dishes (some of the game dishes). I also really like the fact that the meat was locally sourced which shows some nice sensibility and should help the more conscientious carnivores feel good about their meal. We unfortunately had to pass up desert, everybody was simply to full. Our waiter was very entertaining but still made sure that we were very well taken care of. I remember the restaurant fondly from prior visits and the new owners have definitely changed up the decor. But I really do like the new modern take and the place still feels homey and cozy. The new owners also really seem to care as they did stop by at each and every table, including ours, to make sure we were well taken care of and enjoyed our meal. Overall, one of the best meals I've had in a while."

Food was very good, service a little slow but we had requested an English speaking waiter as there were a few questions we wanted to ask.

The food is outstanding but unfortunately the waiter came across a bit impolite whilst trying to be witty. We will be back and hope that particular employee will not be working there anymore

they have a widespread excellent Card of regional cuisine and satndard dishes. Personell is attentive and fast to serve customers Needs. Little bit overpriced. Close to City Center and Swiss border. A hide out worth while

The diner was excellent, with typical German dishes. The meat and sauces were particularly delicious. The atmosphere and the service are also very nice. All together, this is a very good restaurant which worh the relatively expensive price (for Germany). Ver carta

Both for an intimate dinner, as well as for the family, this is a great restaurant , with a lot of choice and good service. Make sure you book on time, so that you can get a table in the main section. Otherwise you may end up in the back room, which sometimes is less cosy.

We enjoyed a delicious meal here recently. The decor is modern and sophisticated. We were served a tasty amuse-bouche before our starters came. The food was excellent, and although the prices are relatively high for Germany, I felt that it was worth paying the extra. Will definitely go again.

Today I was back at Gasthaus Kranz for a business lunch for 30 Eur: Variation vom Räucherlachs mit Blattsalaten, Maispoulardenbrust mit Balsamico, Schalotten und Apfel, Kartoffel Püree, Orangenmousse mit frischen Beeren.Today the meal was a little bit too salted. The service was slow and not so friendly.I hope next time will be better Ver carta

It was Thanksgiving Day and this was my choice for taking the in-laws out that evening. I have been here before and really enjoyed it, but I think it now has different owners. The decor inside has been modernized to look a bit more hip, but is not overly trendy or confusing. The service was very attentive and they carry Maizels Hefeweizen. Quality! Since turkey was not on the menu, I decided to go with the schnitzel from locally sourced veal and my wife had the gnocchi in sage butter. Both were delicious! They gave us a complimentary trout mousse as an amuse bouch. Very tasty! It was a fantastic meal and the service was friendly and helpful. Although the atmosphere is a bit more upscale, it...
