"Looking at the other reviews, this place is obviously very popular with German travelers. The hotel itself was clean and the staff very nice and friendly, but this just isn't a hotel in the in the normal way. First off there is no reception, you walk from outside into a massive dining area and bar, tucked in between is a tiny reception area. Once checked in I headed to my room, although the rooms are part of the complex, the stairs are outside and unheated, reminds me of a hostel. The rooms are probably the most basic I have ever stayed in, a double room consisted of two single wooden box beds, the heating was off, no AC, no fridge/mini bar, all channels on TV were in German. I has to turn up the heat to full on the bathroom radiator to warm the bedroom up. The radiator in the bedroom was in a deep alcove behind the curtains. The room had a single desk chair, plus the cheapest table lights i have ever seen, 3 Euros and 40 cents from Ikea (they still had the labels on them) which added to the feel of a hostel. All this luxury for 90 Euros a night! On the plus side the restaurant was quite good, basic food but well done. There was also no visible signs of WiFi on offer, when I inquired I was told I would have to pay a 20 Euro deposit....why??? I dont get it, do they think you are going to steal the wifi? The hotel is advertised as three star but to me felt like two star."

Es war ganz schön wieder in der Alten Post zu übernachten. Man befindet sich in der Stadtmitte und dennoch ist es dort sehr ruhig. Wir übernachten dort gern, wenn wir in der Umgebung einen Termin haben.

The hotel itself is quite small- it's just few rooms on the top floor. The restaurant is amazing. The owner is very kind, the staff is keeping eye on everything, food is delicious and always served on high level. Ver carta

Great steak and shrimp (I preferred the steak , and great side dishes. The personnel were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Excellent atmosphere. Definitely a must do. (And the music playlist was fantastic for all ages !

Für eine Nacht ganz OK. Zimmer im Gelsenkirchener Barock. Das Frühstück ist nicht ganz so vielfältig. Restaurant kann man empfehlen. Guter und freundlicher Service in sämtlichen Hotelbereichen. Zentrale Lage, Busbahnhof direkt vor dem Hotel.

Wir sind "Einheimische" und regelmäßig zum Mittagessen hier. Der Mittagstisch ist absolut empfehlenswert. Es gibt immer 3 Gerichte zur Auswahl mit Vorsuppe, Salat, Hauptgericht und Dessert zu super Preisen. Das Personal ist total freundlich und sehr bemüht. Immer wieder gerne!! Ver carta

Wir sind mindestens einmal in der Woche in diesem Restaurant. Der Mittagstisch ist der Hammer. 3 verschiedene Gerichte zur Auswahl und dann immer Suppe, Salat und Dessert dabei. Und das schon ab 6,90 Euro. Preis/Leistungsmäßig kann man in der Umgebung nicht besser essen! Der Service ist immer top!

Wir waren zum Mittagessen in der alten Post. Eine Mittagskarte mit verschiedenen Gerichten , immer eine Suppe und ein Dessert dabei. Preislich sehr interessant, die Bedienung freundlich, Änderungen trotz der guten Preise überhaupt kein Problem. Die Bratkartoffeln super, gerne wieder. Eine echte Alternative zum preiswerten Mittagstisch in Gladbeck.
