"Located in a small hotel the restaurant is very traditional in both decor and menu. My wife had the venison which turned out to be a well done slice in a heavy sauce rather than the rare steak she had anticipated but it was good nevertheless. My pork schnitzel was a generous portion and very good with a large serving of really good pommes frites. They only serve local wines which are very, very reasonably priced. We had a robust red which was decent. The prices are very reasonable but the waiter looked very stressed."

Awesome -traditional German fare in a wonderful setting. The strew & bread dumpling was delicious, as was the breaded pork snitzal. Dubious. Great for kids.

We were staying at the hotel and thought the menu at the restaurant was too good to pass up. Interesting decor with real atmosphere. Food was outstanding and service was friendly and efficient. The chanterelle soup was exceptional.

We stopped in here as it was identified as #11 in the city. We found the food pretty overcooked and bland. The sauces seemed to be little more than cornstarch and broth. Nothing special. The meat dishes we ordered all seemed to be overcooked and dry. Again, maybe it was just not a good night.

We made a reservation for 6pm and we got to sit on the patio, it was lovely. The waitress we had was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a plate of sausage with sauerkraut and German style ravioli, they were both delicious. They serve only local wine but they are all reasonably priced. Patio was pretty popular so I think it helped that we made a reservation. Ver carta

My visitor wanted to eat local food, so we entered the Klosterstüble after visiting the "castle garden and the castle with its gate. They have special food and the usual Franconia food. I tasted the duck breast salad which was extremely good, but the asparagus dishes including the asparagus cream soup were perfectly done too. The service was friendly and very attentive. So we enjoyed a wonderful lunch under the sonny blue sky of Rothenburg.

A vey nice, quaint hotel with many original features. In an old creaky building but that it part of the charm. Superb breakfast and helpful, friendly staff. Room has all amenities you need but no aircon. That is no surprise though as there does not seem to be any hotels in this town that offer aircon. The wifi is not very good and patchy around the hotel, that is the only real minor fault. This hotel is within the town walls in an excellent position to walk out and enjoy this charming place.
