"my other half and I used the app to find this little gem and we are delighted to have done it! It's on a road but if you continue down there, there's a parking lot on the right. We went there on Monday night and there was a lot of people, so if it's a weekend, I'd recommend to book. the menu is good but you need a good understanding of French no English translation, we didn't need it. the staff was adorable but don't expect them to speak English, have fun with French, they will respect you for that! My oh had the steak coming with fries and salad (more about this later) and I had calzone and salad. excellent main dishes and good value for money too! let's go back to the salad. on your huge plate will be served your main salad and the most exotic than the man knows! Think about all the fruits and vegetables and it's in there with some random herbs, but it's amazing!! This is the best meal we have had every holiday and a reasonable price too!"

We found this restaurant by chance and noticed that it seemed popular with the local population. the food was excellent and there was a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. you can even eat in the backyard

We had the best ever tasty, delicious and generous meal. It deserved the 2-hour train trip from Paris to visit a friend at chaumont and we spent an excellent dinner welcoming to the grain of salt. courage

We shared a good meal with our daughter here. She and I had an excellent pizza that, I think, was only €8 for a little girl. my husband had a dish of pasta that was excellent and beautiful to look at. We all shared the combo of desserts that was simply incredible.

my first time in chaumont and I looked at the recommendations of tripadvisor and I was very happy with the result. my colleague and I spent a very pleasant meal that satisfied each of our senses in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. the food was well balanced, tasty and served with an extremely colourful and attractive presentation. I ate here twice in the last few days. The first time I had a match of meats. sausages and cane hams in large portions and were tasty. They were accompanied by salad and fruit that ignited the whole meal. Then one of my favorites, the duck's jam and it was excellent. back two nights later, this time for a seafood cocoon. What a great choice. mussels, scallops, bushes, oysters and shrimps. very large portions also. finished with the dessert of the day. Unbelievable.

I visited the grain of salt last week with a friend who wanted to give me faith in French cuisine. I think the UK has better because French food has become too pretentious and lacked imagination. For me, it was the UK all along. It's Italian. I told them when we arrived. Trust them they said! The best was to come, the food was great and the great staff, my steak cooked perfectly and the firm and tasty vegetables, the red house so great. My burned cream was impeccable. No doubt the best meal I had in france.

We must have missed the normal leader. Our cook thought it was acceptable to serve raw shrimp. when we politely asked for them to be cooked, they were promptly taken to be returned, still gray and not cooked. the good news was that the fruit salad that composed the main component of each of our four main dishes was fresh. deliciously fresh and tasty. It exceeded everything in the plate and it meant that we saved on the sweet path. for three meals and we are grateful for the taxi back. I'm sorry, but there's no recommendation here except to miss it. Ver carta

we were in a chaumont to lunch time on a long drive and we are happy to have found this place. We had a wonderful meal and at a very reasonable price (less than 40 euros for both of us) and as the portions are so large, it was a very good value for money. the food was fresh (that is, not out of a plastic bag) and the combination was creative. According to the other reviews, it seems that the chef is somehow a pony in a tower with all dishes accompanied by cherry tomatoes, raspberries and chives. But when you come here for the first time, it is actually a great combination and we enjoyed it. I strongly recommend this place.

When I returned from the south last year, I discovered the grain of salt by chance. We had a very good meal, with a good service.Take the same trip on June 17. this time, I planned in advance and booked a table. What a nice way to finish a week outside, my friend really liked his first visit. Once again, the service was friendly, competent and helpful. We were warned of a copyful portion but somehow ignored the advice. Lobster salad for me, followed by duck - both excellent. my friend had grilled shrimp, followed by the small lobster - both excellent (we took the remains with us.) I have to recommend this restaurant - simple, welcoming with excellent cuisine.

"point positif pour la déco, tendance bobo récup, très (trop) à la mode. Dans le genre c'est pas mal même si on en voit désormais partout. Le cadre est chouette, vieilles rues de Besançon, pierre de taille, bord du Doubs. Passé ça et l'amabilité d'une petite serveuse blondinette toute gentille, le reste est CALAMITEUX;Croquettes de courgettes aux amandes et feta sauce à la menthe en entrée : euh... cramées, NOIRES, pas un mot d'excuses. Bon... bon bon bon... on mange, sauce bourrée de coriandre, on n'était pas prévenus, dommage, on se serait passé de l'entrée vu qu'on n'aime pas la coriandre. On cherche toujours les amandes... quant à la feta, il est possible qu'il y en ait eu... sous la croûte noire.plat de résistance.... on nous annonce : darne de cabillaud, tomates, fenouil, et haricots..... hem... en guise de fenouil on se retrouve avec des graines de fenouil et ce n'est pas du tout la même chose. Le cuisinier a été super généreux avec les dites graines, ça craque, ça croque de partout, pas moyen d'échapper au goût anisé, le flacon a dû tomber dans la sauce... parlons de la dite sauce....une bouillie de tomates sans imagination, servie à la louche pour planquer la pauvreté de la portion de poisson. 10 haricots verts et beurre se battent dans un reste d'eau de cuisson et une portion non annoncée de riz, pas salé, les côtoie pour rivaliser pour le titre d’accompagnement le plus insipide. On finit par trouver la portion congrue de cabillaud sous la sauce, pas désarêté, ce serait trop beau. On se débarrasse dans un coin de l'assiette de la peau grisâtre détrempée pleine de tomates et d'une dizaines d'arêtes. et on mange ce qui reste, peu, noyé sous le goût des graines de coriandre. On en a la nausée tant ça l'emporte.On décide donc de ne pas prendre de dessert, parce qu'en regardant les tables voisines, on aperçoit le cake maison aux noix et on a juste peur. C'est compact, ça doit tenir à l'estomac une petite semaine, c'est servi sans générosité, sans crème, à sec.Sec aussi l'accueil de l'autre serveuse, manifestement débordée (et pourtant la salle et la terrasse ne sont pas prises d'assaut) et agacée par tout, harassée malgré son jeune âge, pas aimable l'air blasé.Bref... sous couvert de produits locaux (euh... le cabillaud ?), on a MAL MANGE. J'aimerais que tous ces bars, bistrots, qui pullulent en se gargarisant d'être bios sans rien avoir à prouver n'oublient pas d'éduquer les papilles des bobos qui gobent tout crus des plats mal cuisinés parce que le cadre est trop cool, ou de réjouir celles des gourmets qui ne vont pas au resto pour le cadre mais pour l'assiette.Il est inadmissible de servir des choses pareilles et à un tel prix ! 10 euros la darne minuscule pleine d'arêtes noyée sous une purée de tomates aux graines de fenouil craquantes comme une nuée d'insectes tombés dans le pastis, 14 euros si on ajoutait les croquettes cramées et 16 si on s'étouffait avec le gâteau aux noix : de qui se moque-t-on à part de cette génération sans éducation gastronomique qui vient là pour de mauvaises raisons ?"
