Mullers auf der Rue

We were looking for some quick soups to get warmed up in the rainy evening. Soup of the day was so so. The soup from menu, was horrible. Over salted, cold, with light flavors... like a colored water.

I eat here with a colleague whilst in the area on business. The staff were very nice as we arrived quite late. The food was good and I particularly enjoyed the French onion soup which was very good. The prices were quite high but we both enjoyed our food.

Beware: this is the bistro-outlet of Nelson Mueller. The patron will not be present, also the menu is fairly limited. Compared to the high tag we expected more. Overall food was just OK. Also the ambience is also somewhat less than perfect: you will be seated in the entrance of a grocery store.

While staying in Essen, we went here on a Saturday noon for lunch.The restaurant has a good location and several tables outside, so on a nice day you can enjoy the food and watching the world.The menu has a good selection, we took the soup (Eintopf), falafel and Currywurst with French fries. The food was good.Service was friendly and quick (also not many people at that time).Definitely a good place for lunch.

Mullers is well positioned in Ruttenscheider Strasse right next to the U-Bahn stop on the ground floor of a store and office building. It is quite different in style to the stunning cuisine of the patron's nearby Schote restaurant and is aimed at quicker dining for far less money.The food is simple, tasty and nicely presented without setting the taste buds alight and there is a short, well priced wine list.We dined as a group of eight and service was a little on the slow side but the chocolate desert was exceptionally good.Well worth a visit to try it out. The disadvantage is that it is situated on the corner and at the entrance to a food store so there can be some disruption.

Chef Muller has a one-star Michelin restaurant Schote, also in Essen. This newer place is perhaps more casual. Good location on Ruttenscheid, and nice menu. Only issue was really slow service, which was unfortunate, because it detracted from my overall impressions the meal. I had a shrimp pasta dish that was nice, and ordered macaroons for a light dessert, which were OK. But the wait between each course was very long and we were not offered a bread course, while other tables around us were. The waitress was very nice but with each query about where our food was, she answered "it will be another five minutes or so." This bistro brasserie styled restaurant came highly recommended by friends from their recent visit and due to who the head chef. We enjoyed our meal from a select menu with food prepared quickly using excellent ingredients and well presented and tasting very satisfactory. The service from the three staff varied from excellent by one to good to just satisfactory. When asked for the wifi password, though asked in English, was told not permitted. not sure if misunderstood as the other waiter, at the end of meal when paying the bill,said it was ok Confused.com. Also had to pay cash as was told card paying system had been hacked so not working. Hope this is rectified soon before our next visit. R...

Whenever I walked past the place, it seemed to be well frequented which I took for a good sign. We went for Saturday lunch, my husband ordered a pasta dish which was okay, I ordered the stew of the day (Wirsing, a form of cabbage) with smoked sausage. It is a well known dish in parts of Germany and I was looking forward to my meal. The menu is not extensive and none of the dishes take a long time to prepare. You have to bring a lot of patience - the service in the kitchen was very slow. The pasta arrived together with my dish which turned out to be a sloppy mess. I recently visited this restaurant. Its new and nicely appointed and includes a theatrical open kitchen at its heart. Here the star chef Nelson Müller and his brigade are in full view of the diners, busy cooking away in the middle of the restaurant. This feature, along with its nice modern bistro styled decor helps create a very nice atmosphere. My husband and I were shown to a nice table for two by one of the waiting staff who was, like the rest of her peers, smartly dressed in her Müller's uniform.
