"I will not be going back here if I’m paid. Besides the fact they’ve taken almost all of the vegan options off, there’s a curry and fajita, which isn’t really a fajita it’s a reheated sloppy wrap! I know this because when asking about allergens or if I can take stuff out I was told it was all premade. I asked for a gluten free wrap as it was part of the option and was given a regular wrap and told about that after I had began eating it! I made my allergies very clear and the waitress tried her very best and was lovely but it seemed the kitchen staff really didn’t have a clue and something in my food set off a reaction even though I’d checked and there shouldn’t have been anything in especially since this meal was meant to be vegan (my main allergy is milk)... On top of this, the lady who came over to assist was extremely rude and insisted if I didn’t need to go to hospital it didn’t really make any difference and it wasn’t their fault so they wouldn’t do anything! Reluctantly she refunded me and said “here you go Madame if your money will make you feel better take it we obviously don’t cater to the likes of you” utterly appalled. Due to the lack of care and their lack of options they should be taken down form here ! Updated from previous review on 2021-06-09 Updated from previous review on 2021-06-10"

I visited here at the start of the year for a wedding reception. The venue is superb with luxurious rooms and is a perfect setting for fine dining. On my visit I only had drinks including a fine cup of coffee but although there wasn't an opportunity for food, a glance at the menu revealed some excellent vegan options that I would love to try when I visit again.

Normally I dread going to country pubs as a vegan but this was wonderful! Several options clearly on the 'vegan menu ' section and also they have a vegetarian special of the day which was vegan on my visit. The food quality is excellent and the portion sizes are huge. Staff were lovely and there 's even a dog friendly area where you can eat and they provide bedding for the dogs to lie on. Also they have vegan beer on tap

I had a lovely afternoon tea at South Causey Inn yesterday. Anyone who think vegans are missing out on anything is mistaken. I had more than enough food and all very tasty. There was a dish of warm pear, rocket, red onion and cherry tomato salad, a plate of bruschetta (of sorts) with herbs, lots of sandwiches jackfruit, cucumber, slaw, two scones, chocolate cake, sorbet ice cream, fresh fruit, macaroons, strawberries dipped in chocolate … I think that was it. South Causey Inn, Stanley We hired a pod for 20 people outside, pre-ordered afternoon tea and finger foods like onion rings, wedges etc. Service was superb, unlimited coffee and tea pots refills, really impressed with their vegan afternoon tea Even though we were outside away from the main building, a press of a button and staffs were there straight away to help. Recommend for small parties like baby shower, birthdays, special occasions. They have pods for 4 people up to 20 people. £26.30 per person include hiring of the pod, (20people)

Before lockdown, this restaurant had a nice and varied vegan menu. However, since reopening, there are only four options on the main menu, two of which are salads. I tried the superfood salad, which was delicious and a good portion size the first time. The next week, it was smaller and £2 more expensive, with some ingredients missing. After complaining, I received a small amount of extra ingredients, but the salad was still disappointing. Two weeks later, I tried the only other vegan option, a Feta cheese salad, which was also disappointing and not worth the price of £14.95. It seems like the restaurant doesn't put in much effort for their vegan customers. I used to love eating here, but I w...

First experience was really good, had a lovely meal of curried pie (really good crust, tasty curried veggies) with a side of crispy chips and steamed seasonal veggies. We got a Thursday night special menu and for three adults came to less than £40, including 2 glasses of wine. Service was very quick Second experience was good but a little disappointed as our first one was so good. I ordered the red pepper Baji which were crunchy but a little too much batter. Portion would have fed two people. Causey vegan salad is £12ish and was good, but expensive for what it is. Loads of asparagus on there but very little citrus segments or dressing. Otherwise very nice experience, though a bit more expens... Ver carta

I will not be returning to this restaurant again. They have removed most of their vegan options, and the curry and fajita I ordered was basically a reheated prepackaged meal. When I inquired about allergens or requested modifications, I was informed that everything was pre-made. I specifically asked for a gluten-free dish and was given a regular one, only to be told after I had already started eating it. Despite making my allergies clear, the waitress did her best but it seemed like the kitchen staff had no understanding. I had a reaction to something in my meal, even though it was supposed to be vegan (my main allergy is milk). Additionally, the manager who came to assist was extremely rude...

I recently took my mom, who eats everything, to South Causey Inn for afternoon tea. While it was nice that there was a vegan option available, the quality of it left much to be desired, especially considering the £20 price tag. The portion sizes were smaller than the non-vegan options, but I was aware of this when booking. The battered mushrooms with mayo were tasty, but the sandwiches (BBQ jackfruit, hummus and cucumber, hearty) were average at best, with the hummus being particularly unappealing. The pear and walnut salad was good, although the strawberries were supposed to be chocolate-dipped but weren't, and the lemon cake was missing altogether. The baked goods (fruit and banana cake) h...

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
