Star Inn The City - Menú

My husband and I went for a dinner and we had a three course meal. Starter and mains were absolutely delicious. Dessert was not as good as the other two courses. We enjoyed our time and quality service.

Well, there are hardly any reviews I've done that will be this short! Everything from the welcome to the coffee was perfect and then some. After 30 years of eating out around the World, I think I've just found my new favourite place! Amazing!

Lovely relaxed restaurant with great good and service. Had four courses and everything was sized just right to enjoy it without being overly full. Certainly not the cheapest restaurant but the quality was fantastic, and value off the scale. I will absolutely be back.

Only had drinks, they were good but £15 for an old fashioned, I'd expected a bit more. Decor is really nice, staff are really friendly and do look after you, I gave it 2 stars for service as we waited 30 minutes for our second round of cocktails. Good atmosphere and nice crowd.

very nice location and eat, cozy modern interiors, sunny outside terrace with views of the river. large menu, with wine recommendation against any dish. the food is high quality, delicious, attraktiw presented. good service and availability of tables. we also visited in christmas, beautiful Christmas tree and camein.

Very nice pub and restaurant situated right beside the River Ouse. To get in you actually have to walk through the ancient York Bar Walls. The outside seating, overlooking the river, is a great location. The table service is a little slow and it can be frustrating. I'd prefer to be able to go to the bar myself without the fuss. Good selection of drinks and cocktails.

Overrated. Food was OK, but nothing special and overpriced. I had the squid and scallops to start and then the lamb. Portions were small. The squid batter was soggy. The scallops were overseared to the point they became tough. Lamb in pic is propped up by potatoes underneath only 3 small bits of meat. Wife had the salmon to start and then the monkfish. The latter was slightly undercooked and both were underwhelming in taste. Service was cold and unfriendly. We were sat in the bar area right by the doorway. Despite being right in everyone’s view we were not attended to properly. Had different staff take the order for every part of the meal. No one asked us how the food was. Could not get anyo...

We came here for an 80th Birthday breakfast celebration. There is a decently large car park not too far a walk from the restaurant, along the river which makes for a nice walk in pleasant weather. On arrival the entrance is through an arched tunnel which is quite fun, an outdoor seating area is on the left along with some outdoor rest rooms. Inside the layout is beautiful, upstairs are the toilets and a function area with the bar area laid out in front of you. On the right you have the large main interior seating area which is very aesthetically pleasing. I googled top restaurants in York and this restaurant came up quite high. I booked this as it was my partners and I 5 year anniversary so with this all being said, expected the meal to be above average at best. However I was incredibly disappointed. I chose the scallops to start and my partner had cured trout which were both delicious and very well presented but The “mains” is were the disappointing started. I chose the ox cheek and risotto, my partner had the lamb.
