"Myself and my partner visited in October as we were staying in the lovely village of Homersfield. The menu was vast and desirable, however it was over priced for a pasta dish?? After asking the waitress if the food was cooked from fresh (the...pork was stated to be cooked for hours) we were informed it was cooked previously for this period and “finished off” to order... aka defrosted. This was a put off to us especially as the dish was so we choose to have the pasta, which we were informed was not homemade but they did “stuff it” in the pub. However we were expecting good things from such high prices. The pasta was very obviously defrosted in a microwave as there was a thick film of oil on top of each cannelloni dish. If this was oven cooked the cheese would be crispy not oily. The chips were old and greasy and the salad was dry. A complete disappointment for such a high price. The waitress was lovely (the one who also works behind the bar) she did try very hard it’s just a shame about the over priced frozen food."

Nice staff and good pub food. Lovely little garden too. There is a river next to the car park which was handy for a dog walk first.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food and friendly staff. Birra Morretti on tap is a bonus! Different rooms for socialising, something for everyone.

Great location by the Waveney River (a minute walk). Light lunch which was very enjoyable. Old fashioned pub, friendly staff. Lots of outside tables.

Great pub food! Stopped off at The Black Swan as we were stopping locally at Broadwash Farm and enjoyed a very nice Sunday roast and desserts…Beer and cider was great and the service could not be faulted. Ver carta

Best beef I have had in a long time. Good menu at a reasonable price. The staff were very polite and helpful. Felt safe eating there in this difficult time. The hygene and safety precautions did not detract from our enjoyment of our meal.

Lovely setting, but otherwise well below average from what you expect from a Pub these days. Everything appears to be bought in and deep fat fried, the pub smells of chip fat. A lot of people like that style, but not for us. Won't...be going back.

During these challenging times cannot fault the service of the staff. The food was absolutely excellent and could not be faulted. Four adults and two children left feeling very full and very contented. Thank you to all the staff for a great experience Ver carta

Felt very angry about being mislead from their menu. The burgers are NOT handmade and if they’re from an award winning butcher, I’d like to know from the Landlord where, as I can tell you now these were frozen patties from a substandard source. My...guess would be birdeye! The chips were cooked in oil that must’ve been used for weeks! Very disappointing experience!

We booked here at the last minute (well day before) for Sunday Lunch, and was fortunate enough to get a table (for We were shown to our table after ordering drinks at the bar, and given menus by a pleasant (landlord member of...staff. They were pretty extensive, and included dessert options. I will cut to the chase at this point, and say that after a great start being served with good-quality mains in a timely fashion, we were basically left looking at our finished plates for minutes, despite staff back and forth doing not very much as it was approaching the end of the service (a clue until we gave up on having them cleared, got the bill and left. This soured the whole experience, and probab...

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
