"One review? Ha! Well here is two. I get why there is only one. This is a hidden gem. You have to be with locals to find it. But, if you are lucky enough to find this charming country pub, you are in store for the perfect English pub experience. This centuries old homestead still oozes that ancient feel. The dishes are not only classic English but also have exciting takes on Korean and Indian fare. I say stick with the local drafts on tap and the classic English dishes. My favorites were the pea and ham soup (If you add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to put it over the top) and the local sausage and mash is on another level. The gravy is to die for!"

Rude staff, owners appeared drunk. Food was mediocre at best. So disappointing as I’d heard good things. Won’t be returning or recommending. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Wonderful pub that has an area for everyone. Great character and fire inside, outdoor bbq and bar areas. Places for kids and a duck pond with tables overlooking it. Good choice of beers as well. Price per person: £1–10 Ver carta

thanks to the fountain inn, ashurst for the delivery of an amazing birthday dinner for us on the birthday of my partner. not even normally serve this day and they went out of the way for us, delivered it to our door, birthday card, pralins, caught beer and all. seriously can not recommend her eating enough if they are stuck in a rainy night and lust to support a local pub. Thank you. alex the team Ver carta

We had booked the night before and when got there there was no booking, had to wait ages then to get seated. Very slow service. Roasts came out warm nearly cold. Asked if could be heated up and came out at the same temperature. The beef had then gone dry and chewy (quite obvious if your going to put it in the microwave) got offered puddings on the house then when we got the bill the puddings were on there and was told only one of the puddings were on the house. Lovely venue but that is it unfortunately

Set in a beautiful village, this lovely old 16th Century pub has quite a substantial following and was Lord Oliviers' sort of local. As an Art club, we used it when out painting in the area. With friends and family, it offers the that lovely warm, cosy feeling on Winter days/nights. The Christmas Day menu/price works out at £60.00, could be seen as pricey but I've seen some at £85.00. Lunch and Dinner prices are around £11 £16 for Mains. Plenty of parking. If you coming from the West via A24, there is a lovely drive from The Old Barn nursery which brings you out nearly opposite The Fountain. Bit of winding lane though, so Vorsicht!!
