We stopped by for dinner without a reservation and were quickly able to get a table. The food was delicious. Overall, I’d rate the service a 5 and the location a 5 as well.

Popped in here on a long drive up't north. They kept the kitchen open for me and the French onion soup was very enjoyable. The pub is beautiful, the food tasty and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended for a visit. Service: 5 Location: 5

Stayed in the air bnb out the back and it was well worth the money. Very tidy, homely room with parking available. We didn't eat at the pub so no review for that, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the continental breakfast that was on offer, so opted not to have it. It would have cost £10 and I don't think it sounded like value for money. Obviously I didn't have it, so can't comment fairly, but the option to not have it and not pay for it makes it fair enough. Your choice.

Lovely pub with lots of history and was built in 1799. Low ceilings make the venue nice and intimate, could easily spend a lazy Sunday afternoon here. Beer garden and big car park to the rear of the pub. Food is served during set times and I would encourage you to book in advance as the kitchen is not always open. Only stopped for a quick rest and drink before back on the road. It is a Greene King pub with a good selection of beers, wines, spirits as well as soft drinks. Friendly staff. My partner and I found ourselves in a challenging situation and needed a comfortable place to stay for an extended period at a reasonable price. The Jon Barleycorn exceeded our expectations! The landlord and staff were incredibly welcoming, ensuring that all our needs and requests were met. The rooms were cozy and warm, equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Have just stayed here for two nights, absolutely lovely rustic country pub. Rooms good with everything you need. Very quiet at night, which is good. Was made to feel very welcome by Ian, even though we arrived a little late for food on the first night they went out their way to ensure we got a meal. Well done to Andrew the chef, could not fault your meals, absolutely lovely and good portion sizes. Nice outdoor garden area. Will definitely stay again when back in the area. Amazing! This charming little pub offers a delightful dining experience. The interior and exterior are beautifully furnished, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The service is relaxed, and the menu is so enticing that it was hard to choose a dish! The wine list looks impressive as well. I will definitely need to return for more! The Angus steak burger was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My mother also enjoyed her fish dish and raved about the espresso crème brûlée—this dessert needs to stay on the menu!
