"Came here on recommendation. When first got there was busy but were greeted by Lisa very friendly. I had asked for quiet table due to anxiety and she was helpful, we first tried to sit in a pod outside but was too dark so went in to quiet table. The young waitress bought our drinks to us and very abruptly put them on table not even trying to be friendly but wasn't just us she was like it with other tables in away put us off. The food was nice and hot. Whilst sat finishing our drinks another girl behind bar started stroking a dog and then picked it up and started cuddling it, and then just carried on serving not even washed hands. (I'm a dog lover but eating and drinking establishment got to be hygienic). I found Lisa and the young lad friendly and helpful. This Inn is situated in Burrowbridge beautiful little place with an old ruined church on hill. Burrow Mump which looks worth a visit. This Inn has plenty of seating inside and outside and parking. Personal choice place. Service: 3 Location: 4"

Food and drinks: The restaurant offers a great variety, however, the pork was tough and the cabbage in the mashed potatoes was rock hard. The service received a rating of 5, while the location scored a 3.

We indulged in the most amazing dishes of Belly pork, smoked mash, special beetroot garnish, and the most delicious crackling. The rump steak was also exceptional, paired with high-quality pub chips. Everything was presented beautifully and met the standards of a fine restaurant. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food we received, surpassing a typical pub lunch. The staff and landlady were incredibly warm and friendly, even to our little lurcher. We will definitely be returning soon! Thank you so much from Linn and Matthew. Service: 5 Location: 5

My friends and I arrived at the restaurant and found it to be busy. However, our young waitress, Ellie (apologies if I got her name wrong) was absolutely amazing. Despite her age, she did an outstanding job managing a diverse group of customers from the moment we walked in. We will definitely visit this restaurant again when we come back from London. The food was good with no complaints, and there were nice walks nearby. The service was top-notch, receiving a rating of 5. The location also scored a 5. The highlights of the restaurant included a great view, being kid-friendly, and offering great value.

"Decided pretty much on the spur of the moment to have a meal here after the cinema. Greeted without a smile and directed to a table for 2 adjacent to the main door. Every time it opened an icy blast engulfed us. We asked if we could move to a different table no problem. I ordered a steak and was told the choice of ribeye was not available so decided to opt for rump. My wife opted for the chicken and peppers in white wine sauce with rice. The waiter returned 2 minutes later to say the rump wasn't available either so I decided to have the Calzone Pizza. The meals arrived but I could see on my wife's face that she wasn't happy. Tasting it you could tell that something (I suspect the chicken) had been so badly burned that the whole meal was so bitter as to be inedible. We asked for it to be exchanged for something edible a simple Magherita. As for the Calzone, there was nothing original about it the ingredients were supermarket ham and either tinned or preserved mushroom slices accompanied by a half pint of a red liquid which I presumed was some sort of sauce. Both the pizza and it's sauce had absolutely no taste whatsoever, the pizza base was undercooked in places and the whole thing was lukewarm. The only redeeming aspect of this meal was the young lady who could smile and was very apologetic about the chicken. Perhaps we ate on an off day but from this experience we won't be back!"

"Based on the Bower inn’s website, my husband and I decided to book a table for dinner Sunday at 7:30pm. Based on the description of the pub’s passion for good food, local sourcing of ingredients and menu we we’re looking forward to our dinner. The pub itself also looked welcoming. Unfortunately, when we walked in we had a completely disappointing experience. We were immediately told we had three minutes to order before the kitchen closed even thought on the website the kitchen was open until 8pm, and we were asked for our drink order before we had even sat at our table or had looked at the menu. Things proceeded to go downhill from there. Service was poor. We had to chase staff to get wine or anything else we wanted once our meal was served. Meals came within 5 minutes of ordering and were clearly pre-cooked without much care for quality. Our salad was ice cold and clearly pulled directly from the fridge. A side of broccoli was nearly raw and the veg with the roast looked and tasted re-warmed. While the vegetarian burger was very good, the roast pork was average. We had to chase after staff to order a second round of drinks. All-in-all we were in and out in under an hour having had one of the most disappointing and up relaxing dinners ever when we’d expected to have an enjoyable and relaxing evening. We spoke to the assistant manager about the problems we’d had. She accepted they’d fallen short and took the appropriate action, but still we left feeling dissatisfied, rushed and disappointed. The Bower Inn clearly has potential to provide excellent hospitality, but they obviously need to be honest with customers on kitchen and bar closing times before bookings are accepted and need to then provide a decent level of service and food quality to match what they claim on their website."
