"I was taken by some friends as a thank you for all the time I spend looking after their property when they are away. They had been before and really hyped it up. I have never been so disappointed in a meal. It was like going to a Michelin starred restaurant and being served something from the local takeaway. The place is beautiful but my meal did not live up to what I anticipated . I know I should have complained but did not want to upset or embarrass my friends. I ordered the linguine pescatore as I love fish of all kinds. I honestly would not have served that in my home. The only flavour was the huge amount of parmesan put on it. The prawns were the miniscule frozen ready cooked ones. There were about 6 small pieces of squid and as for the mussels, there were 9 of which 2 were empty shells, 1 which hadn't opened and the rest minute and dry. There was no chilli, no olives and no sign of caper paste. Don't know where the wine was and about 4 cherry tomatoes. The pasta was over cooked and stuck to itself. I know an espresso coffee is small but I have never had so little coffee in one ever. To say the least this will be my first and last visit."

"We live about 25 miles from East Bridgford and have friends who live nearby and also in Newark on Trent, and have once previously called in to the Royal Oak for a drink. Today however we had lunch with our friends and it was absolutely marvellous. I had reviewed the menu beforehand and it looked good but I was expecting decent pub fare. My expectations were exceeded. The meals we enjoyed were superb restaurant quality and tasted delicious. This marvellous food was matched with friendly relaxed and happy service which always makes a good meal go very well. I had a lovely light starter of three types of beetroot with goats cheese in a light dressing which was fresh and very, very tasty. To follow, I chose a smoked haddock with green beans in a mustard cream sauce which perfectly cooked and was better than delicious. It was sublime. (It’s normally served with new potatoes but I am avoiding potatoes . My friends variously enjoyed tempura king prawns with chilli dip, braised lamb with mashed potato, steak and ale pie, and fish and chips and one even made it to a sticky toffee pudding finale. Everything was enjoyed. The invisible team in the kitchen deserve 11/10 for the food offer and the full Royal Oak team get five stars+ from us for the whole experience. We will be back. (PS. I’m going to try and recreate that smoked haddock dish at home Any tips on the mustard sauce?"

"We booked a table for five. We had the healthy option menu there was another menu but staff were eager for us to try out the new menu and persuaded us to have that. I choose smoke haddock fishcake quite tasteless. Followed by steak Rare my steak was almost well done. It went back to be replaced by a really lovely steak beit a tad small. The potatoes were not the best had gone to water and soggy. I had Vegan pudding of cheesecake very nice indeed best course of the night. The young girl assured me it was diary free. Although the same girl got my steak wrong. When it came to paying that was a complete mess up my card kept getting refused. So we moved to front of restaurant incase of signal problems tried two units still problems. Turned out they do not accept AMEX.I feel that the staff were very young and inexperienced and didn't know what they were doing. This error should have been picked up before I tried to insert my card. We would go back but not the healthy option it was tasteless."

"A wonderful and memorable stay thank you. From the moment we arrived, Kelly and David were warm and friendly and the room was immaculate and super cosy and Kelly's cake and flapjack went down a treat. This bed and breakfast is another level and the breakfast was divine. I've never had such delicious food to start my day and my son gave the pineapple and pink peppercorn jam and his pancake stack a big thumbs up. We will definitely be back to enjoy the grounds, sunrises and sunsets in another season."

"After exploring all the cafes in the village of Bingham, my partner and I were amazed by the menu displayed on the cafe window here. With Greek inspired breakfasts and lunches, we knew we had found something special. The chef and waitress went above and beyond to accommodate my vegan requirements, which I was extremely impressed by. The portion sizes for the omelette and gyroks were generous and offered great value for money. We also enjoyed delicious smoothies and 200degree coffee with no complaints. We believe we have discovered our new favorite local cafe. Thank you to the staff at the cafe for a wonderful dining experience! - Rob Liss"
