"Loved going to this place over the years especially on cold winter evenings so booked to go with friends for a birthday pie ! Specifically asked for the corner table by the fire in the bar area when booking so was really disappointed to be...shown into the other side on arrival There used to be a fire in there too but now that’s not in use and blocked off by a table and even the radiator near the door wasn’t on so it was a very poor and cold experience especially when people arrived or left ! Even the pies aren’t the same. I think half half is now more like two thirds (veg) to one third (filling) and my cauliflower was definitely a plain white sauce and not the once delicious cheese sauce. The service was pushy and rushed from the minute we walked in and seemingly couldn’t wait to get us out just after It’s going to be some time before we contemplate a return based on that experience such a shame to lose one of our most trusted “go to” winter haunts. !"

The pies that they spesialise in are wonderful, with fluffy light melt in your mouth pastry, very special. We all had the small size, as the large are enormous. The sticky toffee pudding was more average, but still very good. I wish I'd tried the desert pie instead though, another time. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4
