"The dining experience was excellent. It was clear that the flavors were authentic to Kerala or another region in South India. As some other reviews suggest, opinions may vary, but in my opinion, this is not the place to go if you are expecting a British curry. I have visited South India before and the food there was amazing, and the use of curry leaves in the dishes at this restaurant was truly authentic and delicious."

"Cousin Ken and I had another great Sunday lunch here yesterday! A varied range of starters I enjoyed the calamari main courses Ken liked the linguine, while, being Sunday, I went for the outstanding roast beef, which was a really generous helping, all the vegetables were cooked, and the gravy rich and tasty! We both enjoyed the warm apple pie with ice cream, but could eat no more! The service was brisk, though never rushed, and we both very much enjoyed our server, Amy's cheerful and friendly manner and banter! Three courses a drink worked out at around £25 a head, which, I think, represents good value, taking everything into consideration. God willing, we'll continue to enjoy more Sunday lunches here from time to time!"

"Tonight, we ordered a firm from our favorite fish and chip shop through a supplier, and unfortunately, we forgot to mention our preferences for salt and vinegar. I called Hook directly and was extremely pleased with the service! The friendly staff took the time to understand my special requests and made sure that the food was prepared and served to the highest standard. It was possibly the tastiest fish and chips I've ever had, and I definitely indulged a bit! The chunky, flavorful cod, perfectly cooked chips, and delightful curry sauce were all exceptional! I would highly recommend Hook for both the delicious food and the outstanding customer service. Truly impressive!"

"If you drive to this pub make sure you pay for parking!! After popping in for a drink we will never return. It is not clear that you have to tell the pub you have parked to obtain free parking and no one in the pub asked. The atmosphere was great and staff friendly however going just over an hour we had a £100 fine!!! We tried to call the pub but they didn’t want anything to do with it and after sending evidence to the parking company they also stated we should have informed the pub. A very expensive drink with friends but what has disappointed me more is that both the pub and parking would not even entertain trying to help."

"We randomly decided to stop at Coolings on a Friday night and it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was great, with friendly bar and door staff, good background music, and reasonable prices. We had a fantastic evening and can't wait to go back. If you're looking for a relaxed night out, Coolings is the perfect spot."

"We have been coming to the old firehouse for over years. Usually have a great experience but not quite the same this time, with one member of staff [male, long hair beyond shoulder length] in particular taking profanities and other poor customer relation traits...to a level I’d not witnessed before. In the space of five minutes I witnessed a couple and two gentlemen receive abuse for standing near the bar hatch in his way when collecting glasses (clearly, they weren’t doing it on purpose). “Get out of the Fu way”, “are you fu stupid” were the first comments that attracted the spotlight. Then when a gentleman tried to apologise for causing an obstruction his response consisted of “don’t apologise, just get out of my fu way”. The nice lady in charge behind the bar did appear to have a word with him but it looked like it wasn’t the first time she’d had to deal with such complaints and appeared to make her very uncomfortable (understandable given how volatile he seemed). Appreciating that customers probably make this mistake frequently, the response was completely disproportionate and offensive and certainly undeserved. Like I’ve said, we normally have a great time in there but this experience is not something I’m keen to repeat any time soon. I really hope this kind of behaviour isn’t tolerated further. To the rest of the staff, I’m truly sorry I’ve had to award three stars as it would have been five. Pizzas and live music are still fantastic."

"I've been to Cosy club a few times and I have to say it's one of my go-to restaurants dessert for lunch. the personal is very friendly and the atmosphere in the inner is simply great, added that it is the sweetest little restaurant probably throughout the exeter. eating: I must say that it is not the best breakfast and would definitely not recommend the avocado on toast, but their main dishes and desserts are absolutely delicious. recently I tried the roasted chicken breast and hello nuts, both were absolutely amazing and I longed them on the daily. the meals of the cosy club are very cheap and honest to one of my restaurants for good eating. So if she hadn't been, I would definitely recommend a visit!"

"My husband and I have stayed at Dukes for many years. It’s in the perfect spot, right on the sea front and we always treat ourselves to a room with a view! The food and service has always been good until our most recent visit in February. We booked a table on our first night for our anniversary and the second night we ate in the Conservatory. The first night was fab, good food, good atmosphere and friendly staff. However, on the second night we were left extremely disappointed. We’d checked with a member of staff what was the latest time to order food and were told 8:30pm. This gave us time to have a drink in the bar beforehand and unwind. At 8:00pm a different member of staff approached us for our food order. When we asked if we could wait until 8:30pm he was very disgruntled and rude. He wanted to know there and then if we were having starters and dessert. As we hadn’t even looked at a menu yet how were we supposed to know what we fancied and how full we’d be? So, declined a starter and dessert and literally went with the mains missed a sale there! Food was lovely as always but just as we finished eating the same guy came over and told us the bar was closing. This was approx 10:00pm. No one informed us that it was a reduced service, that they were closing early and that you won’t be able to relax and enjoy your evening because they all want to go home. The room rate doesn’t change throughout the year so why should the service. We were left feeling that we were nothing but an inconvenience and that our business wasn’t important. I would have thought given the current climate and the effect it’s having especially on hospitality that there would have been a bit more interest in your customer experience. Such a shame Dukes Team very disappointing experience."

"Came here for lunch. Staff weren't too friendly. Service was a bit poor as for got my friends panni. Was told after ordering that I couldn't have cheese chips cause they didn't have enough to do cheese sandwich or panni if there do cheese on chips ? Good choice of on tap largers beers etc apart from they didn't have 2 cause they were waiting for delivery. They were very child and dog friendly. Menu is good but portions were very small. Also couldn't be bothered to turn on the separate fryer to do gluten free. (There own words from the chief)"

"Route 2 offers fair and honest food with a friendly atmosphere. We visited on 12/08/2023 and spoke to the new owner of 10 months who is doing a great job. What's so good ? there are no pretensions that you are there for no other reason is to be served good honest food. Having previous visited a well known hotel in Topsham and been ignored and found the staff with an attitude problem it was great to get excellent service at Route 2 keep it up. Okay, it's a road side café next to the estuary but the owner and staff understand that to be pleasant and prompt and deliver service with food is what is needed they take the medal. Good luck to Route 2. We will be back and we will also book a stay with you. Also reading the review from the cyclist gave 2 stars I think that the remarks were totally wrong but doesn't surprise me . As an ex cyclist I know that many mamils on flash bikes have are an elevated sense of their own importance."

"the personal is fantastic with a very good standard of customer service. it was my birthday party and they decorated a plate of petit fours written with happy birthday in white chocolate sauce. great free music. beautiful prosecco. the four side dishes for £12 is excellent. I recommend the plant tempura. pickles. and brote. everything we had was perfect. the dessert with edible flowers was divine. beautiful decoration and comfortable yet formal atmosphere. it is a good balance of class and casual. so everyone can enjoy a visit in the restaurant. cocktails looked fantastic. we didn't try them, but honestly they looked beautiful. worth visiting: d : I am glad that I chose about 1924 to celebrate my birthday."

"Disclaimer: My son, Henry James is the chef at the new Zita 's Bar and Restaurant (has been for a month or so). I was finally able to check out Zita 's yesterday. There were three of us dining. My daughter and I were able to sample a new menu item freshly made tagliatelle with chicken and mushrooms. Yes, all freshly made. Garnished with rocket, the dish presented well and was light and flavoursome. The third member of our party had a burger, called 'The Usual Suspect '. Again, well presented as a stack and a well balanced dish. Whilst Zita 's takes pains to move away from the perception that it is a burger bar replacement (there have been burger bars on site previously), there still are burgers on the menu. The pricing of the dishes was reasonable and compare well with similar styled restaurants. I must repeat that the food is freshly made, not reheated frozen packages which one often finds in chain restaurants. In my opinion, Zita 's has taken a bold step in allowing a chef to showcase his talent, rather than going with the easy option of 'this is how the dish has to look, because every other restaurant in our chain does it this way '. Freshly made pizzas are also on the menu which I am looking forward to trying next time I visit the restaurant. I was able to have a quick tour of the kitchen which was spotless. I was told that the decor of the restaurant is being updated soon to help cement the new image of the restaurant. The downstairs area will also be opened soon. I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant when you are next in Exeter."

"Staying in nearby(1.7 miles) in Langford Bridge. Thursday 17th Feb went for dinner, cos why not it was only raining a bit and we needed a walk with the dogs. We had the Steak Ale pies with chips and veg; it was extremely good, as was the Devon Red Cider. So booked for Sunday lunch, on the 20th, which they managed to squeeze us in for 2pm. Raining again the 3 dogs weren't keen, but Wow, The Triple Meat carvery was a challenge to get through, but I managed it; very tasty. The beef was beautifully pink, and the horseradish hot. The pork and crackling were very good, the chicken cooked to perfection. After a short pause, I even managed to down a triple chocolate brownie and ice cream. The service was very impressive. A nearby table of about 16 got all their meals within about 2 mins of each other. Thoroughly recommend the place."

"We were lucky enough to get a table at this small and beautiful restaurant. Make sure you book as there aren't many tables. The place is small and cozy. The food was phenomenal, the service was even better. I can't recommend this place enough. I had the lamb, which was cooked to perfection, the portions are generous. The presentation is simple but elegant."

"I work my way through all caffes in exeter and that was such a fun! my man and I found a sweet spot through a window above and had a really nice time. the cappuccino was good not great, I would go back for the atmosphere and tasty. my man got a brownie and enjoyed him. the service was great, we have there approx. 45 minutes before closing and were not treated with annoying, but kindly welcomed. in any case worth a visit!"

"So we were visiting my daughter in Uni and walked past this place and it looked nice, we went in and asked for a table but they said they were fully booked but had some seats outside, it was a lovely day so we decided to eat outside. Anyway we ordered at the bar very reasonable price and then headed for the food. Let me just say this point that the Chief on the day 15/10/23 was super friendly and really made the effort, he even asked if would would like more meat first time I've been asked that in a Carvery his smile and friendliness really made the difference, infact all the staff were smiling and polite. The food was lovely and fresh and tasty, the kids ones 18 lol didn't have the roast dinner but they also loved there food as well. This was my first time here but it wont be my last but as the winter months are coming i will book in Advance. Once again I will say the Chef and the staff were brilliant"

"this restaurant is located in fore street, heavitree, exeter, so it is not in the center of the city. it is an Italian restaurant and pizzaria that has been open for many years. the food is excellent and the prices are very reasonable for the food and service. they can park in the regular on the road, but there is a small parking close to it. it is disabled friendly, although the tables are very close together. the personal is very helpful. there is a series of pasta dishes, many calf dishes, huh and meat. the filletto di maiale al rosmarino, which is delicate rosmarin, is a special favorite of me. they make steaks too. they also have a very nice fish menu. all main dishes are served with potatoes and vegetables or spaghetti napoletana. open in the evenings on Saturdays and lunchtime on Fridays (closed on Sundays)."

"this place is a little jewel-I and my man had our jubilee meal here yesterday evening and we enjoyed the few hours here! nothing was too much annoying for any of the staff- polite service of all and soou friendly and welcoming! this was our first visit, but not our last! the food was fast, hot and tasty with a nice selection on the menu! this place also has a nice warm and friendly atmosphere and to make it extra special, we enjoyed a special jubilee pudding that really made our night! I will recommend this place to everyone personally! many thanks."
