"Attended a family wedding here recently. The restaurant, the location and the facilities were top notch, I think you would have to work hard to improve on what they have achieved here. However, the bar staff in the first floor function suite leave much to be desired ! Their attitude and reaction to the wedding guests during the wedding reception and evening event should definatly be improved ! It began with the sullen faces of the waiting staff during the reception , most should learn how to smile only one lady waitress blonde hair new starter was polite and smiled give her a job in staff training We asked for a bread roll during lunch, to be told, only for guests who have ordered soup ! Eventually after asking again they brought two over for the brides father... The evening event was a challenge when we struggled to understand why the part bottles of wine had disappeared from the table, when most of the guests were drinking spirits and beer etc. The penny , or should I say the C £17,000 dropped when the waitresses were removing full glasses of drinks from the table without checking! When challenged , the nonchalant response was to place the drinks back on the table and march off like petulant teenager! Our dismay was amplified the following day during a conversation with the restaurant manager told us , that 's what we do, If you need to keep your opened bottles of wine on the table you need to let us know , otherwise they will be removed! oh, so the wine is cleared along with the newly poured drinks too then? I don 't think we, or anyone else we know have ever been to a restaurant and even thought to tell the waiting staff not to take the half bottles of wine away before they have been emptied ? This usual practice was not discussed when we booked ! A cynic could suspect they re sell the newly recovered wine by the glass. This said, the manager did compensate with two bottles of the brides choice , so thanks for recognising the issue. But please consider NOT removing part bottles etc without checking in the first place."

"Firstly, I want to start with the positives the food was fantastic. If your only consideration is the food, then you may just have a great time. Kitchen staff get A*. The service was very hit and miss however. You may be waiting some...time to catch somebody's eye to order, and then they may rush off before the full order has been given. The waiting staff had not heard of several of the wines on their list. Whiskey was served in a brandy glass with a slice of lemon port was served in a tumbler. Not exactly world-ending stuff, but when paying what is certainly a premium price, you do expect a better level of service in these areas. One glass of wine had a significant amount of foreign matter' resembling string in the bottom of the glass. This was taken off the bill, but was a bit of an appetite killer. Napkins were taken away with main course dishes, and no replacements brought back, which was odd. Cheese board to share pieces) came with no plates and one knife to share between us for butter and cheese. Luckily we were in no rush. After the meal we went to the lounge to finish our drinks, and asked at reception if a taxi could please be called for us. We were told they might struggle to get one booked for some time, but there was one coming shortly which was no longer needed and that we could have that one. We waited for half an hour, and then it turned out that the guests who had booked the taxi had not cancelled at all. We ended up walking home. None of the issues were especially massive in themselves, but served to erode our good spirits over the course of the night. If we had paid half the price and gone with lower expectations, we might say it was not bad'. However as a restaurant with a silver service history and airs of fine dining, it falls way short."
