"After numerous previous visits to this restaurant, this one has to be the worst I'm afraid. We, a table of four friends attended on Saturday evening, the place was reasonably busy but by no means full. Service was ok ordering drinks and food. After that...we were obviously invisible to the staff for the rest of the evening. Not once were we asked for more drinks, nobody came over to ask if the meal was ok (only two of our meals were ok). The pizza was chewy and difficult to cut. We had difficulty catching their attention even for the bill. Towards the end of the evening we and others we noticed were having to put coats on, it was freezing in there, there was obviously no heating on. We complained to the waitress before leaving about the above, unfortunately she didn't seem overly bothered. On previous occasions the owners and staff have been most attentive and helpful. I don't think we will be returning."

In my opinion this is the best Italian restaurant in Oswestry. The food is more than great and people are very friendly. For a celebrational meal this place is perfect.

Authentic Italian food expertly cooked and presented. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Loved the light, airy feel of the restaurant which is situated in an old church. Plenty of room between tables so felt safe in regard to Covid.

We had a wedding reception here and from start to finish the staff and management were an absolute delight. So helpful, so friendly and amazing service. I couldn’t recommend them more. It really made our evening exactly what we’d hoped for. Ver carta

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here it was a quiet Thursday evening, service was friendly and attentive throughout. It was still a reduced menu on offer and the variety in starters was limited as pretty much all were bread based but still enjoyed our bruschettas....We left extremely full and satisfied!

We visited for a family Birthday it was a absolutely lovely, great atmosphere the food was delicious the service was first class. We were so glad that we chose to go to Lepones', and would definitely recommend it. Thank-you to all the staff for...the excellent food service that we received even though it was a very busy night for them.

Friendly and attentive service from very pleasant staff. Everything run very efficiently. They’re on a slightly reduced menu at the moment, but there’s still plenty of choice and the food is absolutely excellent. All this in a lovely old building which has been converted very...sympathetically. A great restaurant, we’ll definitely be going back. Ver carta

We have a little tradition that on the first night of a holiday we have a pizza. We were staying in Oswestry so found Lepone's. The pizza choice was good but what knocked our socks off first was the shared antipasti starter, it was great...quality and enough for a meal inits own right. The pizza and calzone that followed continued the quality and made for two very happy customers. Great value and an interesting place as a venue as well.

Booked a table of down south for a family occasion. Unfortunately, one of the crew read a couple of bad reviews so copped out with three others, easily influenced. So we were left with the restaurant didn't bat an eyelid, just...accepted the situation and made us very welcome. Food very high quality every plate was licked clean nice variation between the risottos on offer and the spaghetti marinari very well received. Too stuffed to eat a pudding even though they were very tempting. Thoroughly enjoyable and the house red was spot on aa big thank you to the staff who made us very welcome.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
