"A lovely quant pub/restaurant hidden down the a country lane joining Hastings to the road to Winchelsea Beach, this place has been going strong with great reviews for some years. A small bar area opens up to a large restaurant seating area to the side and plenty of garden space and seating outside should the weather be good. Booking is recommended as it gets busy quick. A wide varied menu is available with a good choice of childrens meals for visiting families. The staff were friendly and quick to assist and were happy to add extra to my daughters pizza when she asked. There’s plenty of drinks to choose from as well as a vast array of ales as well. We opted for the seafood platter which if anything almost had too much on it. The fish was cooked perfectly with a light crisp batter, where the cod was fresh tasting. Puddings are just as good and a good selection of them are available. A lovely spot for a sunny day visit or a cosy evening. Tables can be placed together to cater for larger groups. Prices are reasonable and not over priced. You certainly get what you pay for in dish sizes. A great place to visit and bursting with food and drink choices makes this a 5 star place to eat."

Fantastic homemade and freshly cooked food, with very friendly service. This place should be the definition of a well-run, lovely country pub. Dog friendly in the bar area, where food can also be served, or if you prefer dog free the restaurant is available too. Thank you : Service: 5 Location: 5

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is warm and friendly, always working hard and smiling. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time. The bed in the Elm room feels like sleeping on a marshmallow. We will definitely be coming back. The room was absolutely flawless and tastefully decorated. The facilities were excellent, with fresh milk in the refrigerator instead of those awful bags you often find elsewhere. Thank you for a fantastic few days!

Rooms: Our room was bright and airy, equipped with tea and coffee, along with fresh milk in the fridge. The bed was comfortable, and there was a spacious sofa to relax on. It also featured a good-sized flat-screen TV and toiletries in the bathroom, with a great shower. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Oak Room. Walkability: We walked here from Rye, which was a lovely experience. The hill up to Pett was a bit of a challenge, but we made it! Food and Drinks: We enjoyed our dinner, and the chef was very accommodating with my specific dietary needs, which are a little unusual.
