"Visited here twice within the past month (since the refurb). Live local so would be great to find somewhere consistently good for food to visit regularly. First time we visited on a busy Wednesday night. Hadn’t realised it was quiz night (our fault for not checking). Had a long wait for food roughly 45 minutes but accepted it was really busy and the food when it arrived was lovely and plentiful. We had halloumi flatbread and some dishes from the pub classic menu. Also really enjoyed the convenience of being able to order on the app. Due to the positive experience we visited again on a Sunday evening. Much less busy so was hoping for quicker service and looking forward to trying something different from the Sunday menu. Unfortunately the wait this time was even worse despite the pub being approximately only 1/3 full. We waited 55 minutes for food to arrive. When it did it was also quite disappointing and there was no apology or acknowledgement for the long wait. The steak was really fatty, gammon was served as huge thick, very fatty slabs with probably only 50% actually edible and the roast potato’s were hard, cold and clearly straight from the freezer. The stuffing was lovely as was the Yorkshire pudding but overall it was really disappointing. It’s such a shame as a good quality Sunday roast could be such a draw for this pub but I just don’t think it hits the mark. No one checked on us during our meal to see how things were. We had also ordered some desserts at the same time as the mains (was advised on the app to order together with mains to get the advertised discount). When we chased the dessert a waitress told us we hadn’t ordered any as they hadn’t come through to the kitchen and so I had to get out the email receipt etc to show I had which was also a little frustrating and would have been embarrassing if there had been people sat next to us. The staff we did interact with were polite however it was just a disappointing experience overall. We will give it another go (not on a Sunday as didn’t enjoy the roast at all) but I think the wait times for food either need to be improved or it should be advised on the app or by a waitress at the time of ordering that there may be a lengthy wait. This would help to manage expectations. I think most people would be happy to wait if they are pre warned of the time and receive a good quality meal when it does come. As a positive, the interior of the pub looks lovely following the renovation. Really hope they can work on the issues with food service times as it has such great potential to be the best pub in the area."

"Went for a few drinks with local friends only to shouted at by the bar staff across from the room ‘ oh, get off you phone, it’s not allowed’...... now, if there we’re visable signs telling us this, we may have known. We were not using our phone to call and shout on a call, I was being shown pictures of her son travelling Europe. On the second occasion the so called ‘Land lady’, again shouted across the room ‘get off your phone, you have been told already’. Now if only the bar staff had a little decorum and came over to ask her to get off her phone she would have been told she was on call for her job. A little altercation occurred between my friend, who is on call, and the ‘alleged land lady’ occurred where my friend was accused of being aggressive towards the bar staff and it’s on camera. We then asked where the signs were where, that we are being filmed in accordance with GDPR 2016. I then asked why the guys at the bar were allowed to use their phones, while we, as customers, were singled out. We were then asked to leave and that our drinks would be taken away from us, where I then pointed out that we had bought them and that is illegal.. I’m not going to go into any more fact regarding this antiquated, old fashioned, outdated, pub. The staff need to learn how to respect their customers, realise when there’re singling out customers. Avoid this place plague, no doubt a pub where you’d be accused of sitting in someone’s seat as they always sit there...... The hills have eyes.."
